Liu gained widespread recognition for his role in the Detective Chinatown film series, where he played Qin Feng. His performance in the first film won him the Best New Actor award at the Huading Awards. He also starred in the sequel, Detective Chinatown 2, which became one of the highest-grossing films in China.
